Li Na Vs Simona Halep in 1st Round at 2011 US Open

The World No. 6th ranked Li Na of China will take on Simona Halep of Romania in the first round of the US Open tournament on Tuesday at 20:00 GMT at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park in New York City.

The 29-year-old Chinese star Li Na is the only Asian player to win a singles Grand Slam at Roland Garros in May. She has defeated Francesca Schiavone in three sets with a 6–4 and 7–6(7–0) in the French Open final. Li Na also reached the final of the Australian Open in January, but lost to Kim Clijsters in three sets with a 3–6, 6–3 and 6–3. She has been seeded No. 5 at the US Open this year and she is one of the hot favorite to clinch the title at Flushing Meadows Park.

The Romanian star Simona Halep has in the opening round to Johanna Larsson in straight sets in the Texas Tennis event last week and also fell in the second round to Lucie Safarova in the Rogers Cup in consecutives sets. Both the players are clashing for the first time in career, where Li Na is looking huge favorite to win the opening round match and advanced into the second of the US Open event, played here at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park in New York.
