The World No. 5 ranked David Ferrer will battle in the opening round against Igor Andreev of Russia in the US Open tournament on Tuesday at 15:10 GMT at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park in New York City.
The 29-year-old Ferrer has played better tennis in this season, where he has reached the semi final of the Australian Open and fourth round of the Wimbledon. Ferrer also reached the final of the Swedish Open event and lost to Robin Soderling in straight sets with a 6-2 and 6-2 and fell in the third round of the Rogers Cup to Gilles Simon of France in three sets.
The World No. 76 ranked Andreev had not playing well and struggling with his form, where he lost to Julien Benneteau of France in the third round of the 2011 Winston Salem event and fell in the opening round of the Austrian Open to Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain. The Russian star should play hard to win the match in the opening round against No. 5 seed on Tuesday.
Both the players are clashing for the ninth occasion, where Ferrer and Igor Andreev leads 4-4 win loss head-to-head record. The pair has last meet at Buenos Aires ATP Event in 2010, as Ferrer defeats Andreev in straight sets with a 7-5 and 6-2 score line. The odds favors David Ferrer will clinch the victory in the opening round of the US Open on Tuesday at Flushing Meadows Park.
