The World No. 10th ranked Samantha Stosur will take on Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden in the opening round of the 2011 US Open tournament. The match will start at 23:00 GMT on Monday, August 29, 2011 at Flushing Meadows Park in New York

The 27-year-old Samantha Stosur has been playing better tennis at the moment, where she has lost quarter final match to Russian Maria Sharapova in straight sets and fell in the 2011 Rogers Cup final to American Serena Williams in consecutive sets. The Australian star Stosur is one of the hot favorite to win the US Open event this year.

The World Number 57th ranked Sofia Arvidsson has lost in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters to Andrea Petkovic of Germany in two sets with a 6-2 and 6-4 and also fell in the second round of the Texas Tennis Open to Anastasija Sevastova in straight sets with a 7-6 and 6-4 last week.

Both the players are clashing for the fourth occasion, where Samantha Stosur leads with a 2-1 win loss head-to-head record against Sweden star Arvidsson. The pair has last meet at Miami WTA Premier Event in 2009, as Arvidsson retired from the match, due to injury. The odds favors Stosur will win the opening round match and advance into the second round of the event, played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park in New York.
