The World No. 7 ranked Petra Kvitova will face Andrea Petkovic of Germany in the opening round of the 2011 Rogers Cup tournament at 17:05 GMT on Thursday, 11th August at the Rexall Centre in Toronto.
The 21-year-old Kvitova has received first round bye and defeated Anabel Medinagarrigues of Spain in straight sets with a 7-6 and 6-3 in the second round of the Rogers Cup event. Petra Kvitova has been playing well in this season, where she has clinched the 2011 Wimbledon title at All England Club on last month and also reached the quarter finals of 2011 Australian Open and fourth round of French Open.
The German star Andrea Petkovic has defeated Greta Arn of Hungary in the second round and thrashed Eugenie Bouchard of Canada in the opening round of the event. Petkovic has been continuing her great form at Rogers Cup, where she has reached quarter finals of Australian Open and French Open while appeared in the third round of the Wimbledon at All England Club.
Both the players are meeting for the sixth occasion, where Czech Republic star Petra Kvitova leads with a 3-2 head-to-head record against World No. 10 ranked Petkovic. But, odds favors’ Kvitova will win the match in three sets in the third round on Thursday.
