Juan Carlos Ferrero and Marcel Granollers square off in all Spanish competition to the reach the final four of the Mercedes Cup.
The former world No.1, Juan Carlos Ferrero will be clashing with Marcel Granollers in the quarterfinals encounter on Friday, 15th July, 2011 at 12:05 GMT at the Mercedes Cup which is being held in Stuttgart.
Head to head between both the players have clashed in twice in the ATP tournaments, as the former world No.1 is leading the contest with 2-0 against the Marcel Granollers and the previous encounter between both of them was in the 2010 Monte Carlo Masters, where Ferrero has thrashed out Granollers in straight sets with a score line of 6-0 6-3.
Ferrero advanced to the quarterfinal, following his three-set victory over third seeded player in the tournament, Mikhail Youzhny. Ferrero, after dropping the opening set, the veteran bounced back to close the match in two hours and 16 minutes with a score line of 6-7(6) 6-2 6-2.The 31-year-old is bidding for his first semifinal since July 2010.
Former world No.1, after knocking out the last top seeded player in the competition is now huge favourite to win the tournament at Stuttgart.
The world No. 52, Marcel Granollers will be having a tough time against his fellow Spanish player. His best performance this season was in the Serbia Open, when he reached the Quarterfinals and has got a win-loss record of 33-29 in the last one year.
Spaniard, Marcel Granollers defeated Frenchman Benoit Paire in the round of 16, 6-4, 7-5. The 25-year-old Spaniard will attempt to book his first semifinal of the season.
AS per the predictions, it would be a straight sets victory for the former world No.1, Juan Carlos Ferrero.
