Here comes the finals encounter at Wimbledon 2011 between Maria Sharapova vs Petra Kvitova, as they battle to clinch the Wimbledon Championship title at the All England Club in London.

The Russian former Wimbledon champion, Maria Sharapova will be taking on the Czech player, Petra Kvitova in the finals of the 2011 Wimbledon on Saturday, 2nd July, 2011 at 09:00 GMT on the Center court in the All England Club in London, England.

The head to head between both the players Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova have clashed once in the Memphis WTA International in 2010, as Maria Sharapova has thrashed out Kvitova with a score line of 6-4 6-3.

Maria Sharapova, the Russian former world No.1 is a three time grand slam winner and is well know of clinching the 2004 Wimbledon title at an age of 17 years. The Russian has claimed two more majors in New York (2006) and Melbourne (2008) and later was out of tennis for a period of 9 months, due to injuries. However, after her come back, she has miserable career and this year, her best performance came after winning the Rome title and also made it to the semi-finals of Roland Garros, her best Grand Slam performance since winning the 2008 Australian Open.

Petra Kvitova is seeded No.8 in 2011 Wimbledon champion and this is her second straight semifinals in Wimbledon. Last year, she lost to former World No.1 and defending champion Serena Williams in straight sets 7–6(5), 6–2. Petra Kvitova has yet to achieve her first grand slam title in her career.

Czech Petra Kvitova is in no mood to lose either. Her three titles this season in Brisbane, Madrid and Paris, all came at a WTA premier level and helped her break into the top 10 in the rankings.

The woman, who was responsible for the early demise of five time winner Venus Williams and 2010 finalist Vera Zvonareva, Kvitova is looking stronger than ever. The Czech is attempting to become the first left-handed player since Martina Navratilova in 1990, to win the Championships at Wimbledon, and is playing like a champion with all the arrows in her armours well in place to fetch victory.

As per the predictions, it would be tough matches, as both the seeded players are strong. However, it would be Maria Sharapova to clinch the title at the Wimbledon 2011.
