Wimbledon 2011: Ladies’ Semifinals Schedule

On day 10 of the 2011 Wimbledon, it will an exciting day for the fans of tennis on Thursday, 30^th June, 2011 at the All England Club in London, as the top seeded players in Women’s will be clashing to enter into the finals.

In today semifinals order of play, Sabine Lisicki is only unseeded player, who will be clashing against the former Wimbledon champion, Maria Sharapova to enter into the finals of the All England Club. The top seeded players still in the competition are Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova.

The first semifinals match schedule on the center court will be between Victoria Azarenka and Petra Kvitova.

Victoria Azarenka is seeded No.4 at the Wimbledon 2011and this is her first semifinals at Wimbledon. Her best performance in Wimbledon was in the quarter finals in 2009, where, she was defeated against Serena Williams in straight sets with a score line of 6–2, 6–3. Victoria Azarenka has yet to achieve her first grand slam title in her career.

Petra Kvitova is seeded No.8 in 2011 Wimbledon champion and this is her second straight semifinals in Wimbledon. Last year, she lost to former World No.1 and defending champion Serena Williams in straight sets 7–6(5), 6–2. Petra Kvitova has yet to achieve her first grand slam title in her career.

The second semifinals match schedule on the center court will be between Maria Sharapova and Sabine Lisicki.

Maria Sharapova, seeded NO.5 in Wimbledon 2011 is a hot favorite to win the title this year at the All England Club. The Russian former world No.1 has 3 grand titles in her career and has was the champion at Wimbledon in 2004. Sharapova was beaten by Serena Williams last year in the third round of the Wimbledon 2011.

Sabine Lisicki, the Germany Wild card player is the only unseeded player in the with 2 WTA tilts in her career. She is only the second player in Wimbledon’s history to make it to the semifinals while entering the tournament as a wildcard.
