The Indian ace, Sania Mirza was thrashed out by the France wild card player, Alize Cornet on Tuesday, 17th May, 2011 in the Strasbourg International 2011.
Wildcard entry player in Strasbourg International 2011, Alize Cornet of France edged past Indian Sania Mirza with a score line of 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 to reach the second round of Strasbourg International on Tuesday.
Cornet opened with a break in hand and raced to 2-0 in the first set but Mirza broke back in the fourth game to level the scores at 2-2. However Mirza once again failed to hold her serve and gifted a break to Cornet in the fifth game, who maintained the gap to wrap the first set 6-4.
However In the second set the Indian ace came back strongly and took the lead but both players traded multiple breaks, Cornet while serving to stay in the set faltered and allowed Mirza to level the set scores at 1-1, as Mirza took the second set with 6-4. In the third set Cornet stepped up the accelerator and raced past Mirza 6-1 to win the match.
Alize Cornet will be facing her next round in the Strasbourg International 2011 against the Russian player, Nadia Petrova.
