Top seeded players, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are set to kickoff their matches in the £7.5million Mutua Madrid Open on Wednesday, 4th May, 2011 as they clash with their competitors in the second round of the Madrid Masters 2011.
Top seeds are aiming to kickoff the second round of the tournament as they (Nadal, Djokovic and Federer) have got a bye in the first round and are set to play their first match today in Madrid.
Rafael Nadal is No.1 player in the tournament and will be facing Marcos Baghdatis, the Former Australian Open finalist. The Spaniards is undefeated with 34-0 on clay and would be continuing his domination on the clay court. Earlier this season, he has won back to back title on clay with Monte Carlo Masters and Barcelona Open against his fellow country men, David Ferrer. It would be a tough match for the world No.1.
Novak Djokovic, the men in-form this season with an undefeated 27-0 has won his first clay court title last week in his home crowd at Serbia Open 2011. The Serbian will be facing his second round encounter against the South African, Kevin Anderson.
Mean while, the 16-time Grand Slam winner, Federer has a lot to do in the Madrid Masters in order to get back to form. He has just won a single ATP title this season and will be clashing with the Feliciano Lopez. It could be tough job for the Swiss to overcome against the hot-handed, Lopez.
