The Canadian raising star, Milos Raonic will be battling with Gilles Simon on Friday, April 29, 2011at 15:00 GMT in the Estoril Open 2011, to enter into the semifinals of the tournament.
Milos Raonic will be facing the fourth seeded player of the tournament, Gilles Simon in the quarter finals on Friday in the ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tournament, being played here in Estoril, Portugal.
The most remarkable fact about these two contenders is that they have catapulted in their ATP Rankings in this new season. Former World No. 6, Simon has gone up from World No. 41 to No. 22. While, Raonic has been the progressive player of the season and moving his ranking from 156 to No.27 in a period of three months. The Canadian is also playing in his first ATP World Tour clay court quarter-final.
This is another big achievement for the rising Canadian who eased past local wild-card entrant Joao Sousa 6-3 6-3 to secure his berth in the quarter finals. Raonic is the second youngest player in the top-100 in ATP Rankings and also the highest-ranked Canadian in the history of the ATP World Tour at 27th position.
Gilles Simon has thrashed out Carlos Berlocq, the Argentina player in straight sets with 6-2 6-1, to enter into the Quarter finals of the Estoril Open 2011.
This will be the first head to match between Milos Raonic and Gilles Simon in their career and it would be a thrilling encounter for the up-coming players, clashing for the semi’s spot in the tournament.
