Andy Murray announced that he was quitting form this week’s Barcelona Open due to his injured elbow.

Andy Murray said that as per the advice of medical professionals, he had to withdraw from the Barcelona Open. Murray was the second seeded in the tournament with likes of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic was not playing, while Rafael Nadal being top seeded. Murray had an edge to defeat Nadal but he has to retire from the tournament due to injury.
Murray added that it needs four to five days of rest and then he will be practicing of the French Open 2011. He was not hitting the ball well and it was not a major concern. Murray played more than three hours with Nadal in semi-finals, so he can still hit the ball decently well but it was pain that hurting him a lot said Murray.
Andy Murray, 23-year-old is scheduled to play Madrid Masters 1000 which will kick-off on May 1 and followed by French Open on May 22.
Tomas Berdych, seventh ranked player was also pulled out of Barcelona Open due to stomach virus.
