Roger Federer, the Swiss maestro has started off his clay court campaign in style wrapping up the German player, Philipp Kohlschreiber in his second-round match at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 clay court tennis tournament.
The top seeded, Spaniard has crushed off the German with a 6-2, 6-1 victory on Tuesday, 12th April 2011 in his second round match in the Monte Carlo tournament 2011. The world no.3 player, has warped up the Kohlschreiber in just 50 minutes to win his 7th match in their head to head meeting.
Federer made Kohlschreiber shuttled all around center court with splendid shots which were beyond his reach. Federer broke Kohlschreiber twice in each set, Federer with an ace and sealed marvelous victory with his fifth ace of the match to improve to 6-0 against him.
The 16-time Grand slam winner after the match has said that, it was clearly a good start in the clay-court season and said that, he varied it well that Kohlschreiber couldn’t play his game.
Federer stated that, he was consistent and consistently dangerous too.
Federer is 23-4 this season, after he has been overshadowed by Djokovic’s staggering achievements in the first quarter of the 2011 ATP World Tour season and later lost in the semi-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open 2011. However, Federer has been strong performer against the other player by the reaching the final stages of the tournaments, this season.
So it would be tricky task for the Swiss to overcome against the King of Clay, Nadal in later stage of the Monte Carlo Masters 2011.
