Juan Martin del Potro has claimed his first title in his first final since capturing the 2009 U.S. Open, he has defeated the Serbian, Janko Tipsarevic on Sunday, 27th February, 2011.
Juan Martin del Potro has knocked-out Janko Tipsarevic in straight sets with 6-4, 6-4, to win the Delray Beach championships.
The 22-year-old Del Potro, after missing-out the last season with a right wrist injury, looked weariness throughout the finals of the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships. But he willed himself to victory over the inconsistent Tipsarevic.
The Argentine player, Martin Del Potro has eight career wins, earlier he has reached the semifinals of San Jose and Memphis to move forward of playing Delray Beach. He is now planning to skip the Davis cup for Argentina and stay back in South Florida to play the Indiana Wells or Miami later in March.
Tipsarevic, the 52nd-ranked, was trying to win his first career title, could not able to take the early advantage in the game. The Serbian, who was struggling for the star of the match, could hold only 49 percent of his first serve for the complete match and was only able to capitalize on one of 11 break points on Del Potro’s serve.
Juan Martin del Potro after the match said that, he is getting ready to fight with top-10 players, but will be working very hard and hope to do it soon. He added he needs to play 20 to 25 matches before he will be ready to play with top-seeded players and it will come soon.
