Roger Federer, world no.2 has cruised into the semifinals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Thursday, 24th February, 2011 defeating Sergiy Stakhovsky, the world number 43.
In the quarterfinals of the Dubai Open, Roger Federer defeated Sergiy Stakhovsky by 6-3, 6-4.
The top seeded player, Federer has shown a class performance of tennis by playing fabulous shot all across the court against the Ukraine player, Sergiy Stakhovsky. Federer aiming for his 5th title at Dubai has dispatched the Ukraine in 72 minutes. However, for the first time in the tournament, federer has dropped a serve against the 43rd-rank player, Stakhovsky. He saved eight of the nine break points he faced and capitalized on three of the nine chances he created.
The 29-years old, Roger Federer, is ranked no.2, has won the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships thrice in the years 2003, 2005 and 2006. He also has a record of winning 28 matches in 31 which he has played in Dubai.
Earlier he has won the Doha open against after Nicolay Davydenko in the first week of January and later he was defeated in the semi-final showing of the Australian Open against Novak Djokovic.
Roger Federer will face Richard Gasquet, 28th ranked player in world, in the semifinals of the Dubai Open. Richard Gasquet in a three set-thriller has defeated the French man; Gilles Simon has reached the first ATP semis with 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
