Caroline Wozniacki has been defeated by Na Li. The clash between Caroline Wozniacki and Na Li was a thrilling encounter. The world no.1 has been thrashed out of Australian open by Li Na of China in her semifinal match at the Melbourne Park. Li Na took a spectacular victory defeating the world No.1, Wozniacki in straight sets by 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Final Scores: 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Wozniacki’s first run to win a Grand Slam ever since she became World Number 1, Wozniacki, aiming to win her first grand slam has come to an end as the world No.9 player Li Na showed an exceptional performance by winning the semi finals match of the Australian open.

Wozniacki winning the first set of the game without giving any chances to the 9th seeded player, Li Na by 6-3 against, however after the first set chain’s player Li Na came back strongly giving a tough battle to the No.1.

Wozniacki held match point at 5-4 in the second set, and scored 40-30 in the tenth game. Right when it looked like Wozniacki would score a win, Li rallied to challenge her and win the second set 7-5. She served for her first match point an hour and six minutes after this.

Her recovery was certainly impressive; she finished with a total of 51 unforced errors during the match, and struggled to find a foothold in the first half. Although Wozniacki might have secured her place in the title match in under 90 minutes, Li’s forehand saved a match point and revitalized her performance. The players traded breaks multiple times in the last set, before Li held her ground and finished it off.

Li Na, world No.9 became the first Chinese player to reach a Grand Slam title match in singles play, in the history of the game and she is first Asian player to play final in any of the grand Slam tournaments.

Li Na will be facing the thrice Grand Slam winner, Kim Clijsters Finals of the Australian open.
