It’s been a stunning result at Pan Pacific Open. Defending champion, Maria Sharapova lost her match against Japanese veteran player, Kimiko Date Krumm in the first round of the tournament. Since the match begins, Russian star hasn’t seems to be in a good form.
Sharapova losses the first with 5-7, but in the second set, she completely dominated and managed to win with 6-3. In the final set and match deciding set, she losses the set and match with 3-6. Kimiko Date Krumm saved some close and key points to win over Maria Sharapova.
12th seed player, Sharapova had 11 double-faults in the match. “To play against a former World No. 1 and defending champion, I knew I had to play to the best of my ability,” Kimiko Date Krumm said after the win over Maria Sharapova.
Kimiko Date Krumm returned to tennis in 2008 nearly after 12 years.
