World No.1, Serena Williams has decided not to participate in China Open, which will start in next month. She took this decision because of her right foot injury. She already quit from Pan Pacific Open because of the same injury. Pan Pacific Open will begin from next week.
On Sunday, Serena Williams issued a statement about China Open. She said, “While I have continued to make progress in the recovery of my foot injury, unfortunately I am still not ready to compete at the upcoming Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo and China Open in Beijing”.
“These are both fantastic events with loyal fans that I hope to be able to compete in next season. In the meantime I am focused on my rehab program and remain optimistic to return to competition this season”, Serena also added in her statement.
Serena Williams, cut her foot on broken glass at a restaurant shortly after winning her fourth Wimbledon.
