Novak Djokovic defeated Viktor Troicki 6-3, 7-5 in the second round of the Western and Southern Financial Group Masters in Cincinnati.
Before the tournament, Novak Djokovic said that he has a tough time playing in extreme heat and sometimes in Cincinnati they “enjoy” on-court temperatures around 120 degrees.
The Serb was lucky and got a break from the heat of the day playing in temperatures of 79 degrees with low humidity.
“I do react a little bit different than other players,” Novak Djokovic said. “I do have some respiratory problems, depending on the conditions I play in. But you know, you’ve got to try to overcome that. I’m not the only player who has issues out there.”
After winning the opening set, Djokovic had a lapse that allowed Troicki to hang with him during the second set.
“It was a very ugly set with a lot of unforced errors on both sides,” Djokovic said.
Djokovic will next play against the winner of the match between John Isner and David Nalbandian.
