On Thursday,  Belgian player, Xavier Malisse is facing American star player, John Isner in the US Men’s Clay Court Championship match.

John Isner achieved his career-high rank of #20 on March 1, 2010, and as of March 2010, he is number-two ranked American tennis player.

At the 2010 BNP Paribas Open Masters, in Indian Wells (as the no.15 seed), after receiving a first round bye, he won his opening match against Kevin Anderson 6-3, 7-5. In the third round, he defeated compatriot and good mate Sam Querrey 7-6(3), 6-4. However, he lost in the fourth round against World no.2 and defending champion Rafael Nadal in a superb 5-7, 6-3, 3-6 battle.

Afterwards, he appeared in the second master series tournament of the season; the 2010 Sony Ericsson Open Masters 1000 in Miami, as the 17th seed. Receiving a bye into the second round (as a result of being seeded), he defeated compatriot and veteran Michael Russell in a tough 7-6(5), 2-6, 7-6(5) victory, in which Isner did not earn any break point opportunities. In the third round, while exhausted and fatigued, Isner fell to no.12 seed Juan Carlos Ferrero 2-6, 6-3, 3-6.
