A young American hopes Melanie Oudin just 18 years old and the No.3 American in the world tennis standing behind the Williams sisters.

She gave surprise run in to the quarterfinals of the US Open last year and last week reached her first career Sony Ericsson WTA Tour semifinal in Paris.

After some months rest, Melanie Oudin seems to have caught fire again, reaching her first career semifinal in Paris last week.

In her last Wednesday, match Melanie Oudin defeat Lilia Osterloh with 6-2, 6-1.

Seeded No.2 this week – just like Roddick – she will open her week against another young Sweden’s Sofia Arvidsson. Sofia Arvidsson.
