A young American hopes Melanie Oudin just 18 years old and the No.3 American in the world tennis standing behind the Williams sisters.

She gave surprise run in to the quarterfinals of the US Open last year and last week reached her first career Sony Ericsson WTA Tour semifinal in Paris. Seeded No.2 this week – just like Verdasco – she will open her week against another young American, all-court player Alexa Glatch.

Rest of the marquee names in Tuesday are former Top 10 players Tomas Berdych and Nicole Vaidisova, as well as a whole host of Americans, including former world No.15 Robby Ginepri.
